Kat Wright • Clerel • Satellītes

KickDrum présente / presents...

Kat Wright (Burlington, VT) - Kat Wright, whose voice is both sultry and dynamic, delicate yet powerful; gritty but highly emotive and nuanced, has been described as “a young Bonnie Raitt meets Amy Winehouse”. Add to that voice enough stage presence to tame lions, and the combination of feline femininity proves immediately enchanting. There’s soul flowing in and out of her rock ‘n’ roll with a serpentine seduction. Some of soul music’s sweet, grand dames belt, shout, seethe, and succumb, while Wright sings gently like a heartache’s apology. It’s funky in spots and beautiful all over. And it hurts a little … like it should.

Clerel (Montreal, QC) - Clerel discovered his passion for music in his native Cameroon, where he grew up singing all kinds of music, from hymns to French folk songs. Today, this exceptional singer-songwriter – whose voice has been likened to liquid gold – has a captivating musical repertoire inspired by R&B. Come enjoy timeless songs by the genre’s finest artists, from Sam Cooke and Marvin Gaye to Otis Redding, Stevie Wonder, Bill Withers and Al Green. Join us for an incredible night out on the town!

Satellītes (Montreal, QC) - After years of hiatus, the Montréal-based vocalist and musician is back, both wiser and wizened. She has left her old country-folk sound in the dust; it never quite fit. Today’s sound is smoother and more comfortable. If you said stronger you’d be right; if you said sexier you wouldn’t be wrong. But naming things is for other people. Call it blue-eyed soul. Call it rhythm and blues. Call it whatever you think it should be called.
